Accessibility

Browser Compatibility

This website has been designed to be accessible by as many people as possible around the world. We have coded all webpages using the XHTML 1.0 strict standard and cascading style sheets (CSS) for the layout, which are both the latest industry standards as of December 2006, according to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

> More about XHTML and why it is important

This means that the website should be clearly and easily visible by all Internet browsers that support those standards. NB: some of our webpages will fail the validation test due to special features such as long links to external dynamic websites or dynamic forms but their content will nevertheless display correctly.

Best configuration: This website is best viewed with Internet Explorer (IE) 6/7 but is also correctly viewed with Mozilla Firefox 1.5/2.0 or Netscape 6/7 (we do not recommend Netscape 8 for the moment).

Some older browsers do not support the new standards of XHTML and CSS but if you are using such an old browser you will, however, still access the content of the website and the information, and you will be able to navigate the entire site. You will just miss some of the design features and you may see the content displayed within a basic layout.

WAI Compliance

Our website is being upgraded to be fully compliant with the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) standards from the World Wide Web Consortium. Once our upgrade is completed, this website will provide navigation aids to people with physical disabilities. Whenever possible, our webpages will meet the 'AAA' level of compliance but in some cases we may have to aim for the level 'A' only.

Text Size

To increase the size of the text of this website, you can use the features of your Internet browser:

  • With Firefox and IE (for Windows/PC), choose View (IE 6) or Page (IE 7) > Text Size
  • With Netscape and IE (for Macintosh), choose View > Text Zoom/Size

Our style sheet allows text resizing for the main text in the body of the pages as this is still the most common method used by people browsing the Internet.
